Maiden travels
Maiden Voyage is an album of Herbie Hancock recorded the May 17th 1965 by Rudy Van Gelder for the label Blue Note.
One finds there the rhythmic one of the second quintet of Miles Davis: Ron Casing with low, Tony Williams with the battery. George Coleman, which also played with Davis, is with the saxophone tenor, and the talented Freddie Hubbard with the trumpet.
The pieces, all compounds by Hancock, and which very quickly became large standards of the jazz, are in the order: " Maiden Voyage" , " The eye off the hurricane" , " Little one" , " Survival off the fittest" , " Dolphin Dance". This album, which breaks with the albums hardware-bop of Hancock, is a big boss of work, as the first piece, much more testifies some " planant" and timeless that pieces like " Watermelon man" , recorded earlier.
