Mahogany tree
The mahogany tree is a name which indicates a whole of tropical trees of the family of the Méliacées, whose principal characteristic is to have wood of a pale or red pink color. The fruits of the mahogany tree are Akène S. There are two principal varieties of mahogany tree: the mahogany tree of Africa (the Khaya ) and the mahogany tree of America (the kind Swietenia ).
Its Bois invaluable is in particular used in cabinet work and in Marqueterie, the Lutherie of the modern Guitare S calls also upon this gasoline for the handles and the bodies. Its color is homogeneous, its fine grain, its average hardness.
The name " acajou" comes from the language Tupi. In Portuguese, acaju indicates the Anacardier, which gives the Cashew nut. By confusion, the word mahogany tree indicates in French the tree giving the joinery wood.
