Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni

Mahmoud Asgari محمودعسگري and Ayaz Marhoni عياضمرهوني are two Iranian teenagers of the province of the Khuzestan who were hung publicly on the place Edalat (" justice") of Mashhad, in the North-East of the Iran, the July 19th 2005. This case mobilized the international community had regard at the age of the boys, and the fact that they would have been condemned to died because of their Homosexualité supposed or proven. The Iranian capacity, for its part, affirmed that the sorrow was marked for the abduction and the rape of a 13 year old minor.

Before their execution, Mahmoud and Ayaz had spent 14 month in prison. They, moreover, had received 228 whiplashes each one, for disorder of the law and order, alcohol consumption and vol.

The doubt persists about the precise age of the boys. According to certain sources, they respectively had 14 and 16 years the day of the arrest and 16 and 18 years at the date of the execution. Other sources indicate that Ayaz Marhoni was 19 years old and was thus major at the time of the crime.

The news of the execution was made public, with photographs, on Internet, the very same day, in an article on line of the ISNA (Iranian Students News Agency) translated into English and was included by gay British association.
