Maguy Marin , born with Toulouse the June 2nd 1951, is a Danseuse and French Chorégraphe of Contemporary dance.

Biography

She studies the ballet dancing with the academy of Toulouse, then with the conservatory of Paris with Nina Vyroubova. She enters then to the ballet of Strasbourg, then changes direction and between with the École Mudra with her creation in 1970 with Brussels. Three years of intesive work are decisive in its course (“all my reference marks crumble to let appear the multitude of the creative choices, freedom, the constraint also… Nothing any more will be as before”).

It takes part then in a group of theatrical research, Chandra , which stops rather quickly (at the end of 1974), then dance three years with the Ballet of the XXe century under the direction of Maurice Béjart, and tries its first experiments of choreography. In 1978, it is still in Brussels and works with Daniel Ambash; its creative activity consequently takes its rise, especially after its price obtained with the international choreographic Concours of Bagnolet in 1978. It will be consequently one of the choreographers most important of the Nouvelle French dance, in particular with a part become mythical May B. in 1981.

Its company is created, evolved/moved and changed; today it carried out forty parts, and continues its work, recently, with the national choreographic Center of Rillieux-the-Pope.
