Magpie II

Pie II (of birth Enea Silvio Piccolomini but generally known in the literature under its Latin name Æneas Sylvius ) was the 208e pope (August 19th 1458 with the August 14th 1464).

Ecclesiastical career

It was born with Corsignano in the province from His the October 18th 1405, where it made build the town of Pienza later, became bishop of Trieste in 1447, then bishop of His in 1449 and was named cardinal in 1456.

It tried a popular Croisade against the Turks, but died before embarking with Ancône the August 14th 1464.

Aeneas Sylvius belongs to the writers of the Humanisme of the Quattrocento. Its varied work, in Latin, includes/understands:
