Magnetite
The magnetite (of the Greek magnês , “magnet”) is a ferrimagnetic Minéral of the family of the oxides. She crystallizes in the cubic system and fact part of the group of the Spinelle S. Its chemical formula is FeO.
It is presented into octahedral or black granular masses. Its hardness is of 6 and its density is of 5,2.
It is frequent in the magmatic rocks (especially basic) and metamorphic.
Layer
It is one of the principal ores of Fer. It is present in the majority of the concentrates of battée of the gold washers and can be separate easily using a magnet. One also finds it in Austria in green schists or the crystals can exceed the 5mm easily edges.
Crystals malformed of 250 kg were found with Faraday in the Ontario with the Canada and in the Pegmatite S of Teete to the Mozambique.
Use
Mineral used to date the lava flows because it records the variations of the orientation of the terrestrial magnetic field. Contrary thanks to magnetite one could determine on brought closer castings that with each inversion of the terrestrial dipole there is a phase of transition 1000 years when the magnetic field can be reversed in 3jours.
Biology
According to the research carried out by two American biologists, Gould and Kirschvink, the cells of the human being contain magnetite crystals. What could bring to include/understand the bio-electromagnetic properties of the human bodies|May 17th, 2007
