Magirus-Deutz was a manufacturer of Camion, of machine-pump and German Autobus.

History

In 1936, Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) and Magirus amalgamates and since 1949 the mark for the trucks, the machine-pump and the buses (with engines cooled by air) becomes Magirus-Deutz.

In the Seventies Magirus-Deutz larger manufacturer of commercial vehicles in Germany was the second. Magirus-Deutz cooperated with DAF, Volvo and Saviem: In 1971, the “Club of the four” is formed: DAF, Magirus-Deutz, Saviem and Volvo are intended to jointly produce a model of class medium starting from a cell and a common cabin (Series MK for Germany).

In 1975, FIAT founded IVECO. Magirus-Deutz will become a subsidiary company of the group IVECO then. Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz had 20% of IVECO. In 1980, KHD sold with FIAT all its actions IVECO which becomes a branch of group FIAT at 100%.

The Magirus label is always reproduced on the grills of the trucks of division sets fire to IVECO Magirus.
