Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom or magic Royaume is the park with topic built with the image of Disneyland for Walt Disney World Resort.

It was open on October 1st 1971 to Orlando in Florida, in the extreme north of the complex of Walt Disney World Resort, at the end of a private highway of almost 10 kilometers, World Drive. Its surface of 43,3 ha, located between that of Disneyland in California (37 ha) and that of Disneyland Paris (55 ha) is not used in its totality, mainly behind Fantasyland. It is delimited by the train which encircles the park.

With the difference in sound big brother of California, all the neighborhoods of the park are under the total control of the firm Disney.

The park with topics

The little story would like that Walt Disney at the time of a visit with Disneyland meets " cow boys" in Tomorrowland. After their having asked for the reason of their presence in part of the park without relationship with their costumes, Walt learned that this way was the only one for them to turn over in slide.

Hand Street the USA

This country is based on the stereotype of a main street of an American city of the beginning 20th century. Then on four blocks of houses (blocks), separated by a street with right angle, the shops and restaurants are arranged. The Emporium as with Disneyland occupies the first block on the left, it is the largest shop of the park. Since 2001, the street behind the Emporium was mainly removed in order to connect the two blocks and to form with the shops of the second block of left a shop even larger. The extension accommodates mainly a dome out of glass and many doors.

On the place of Town Public garden , a statue of Roy Oliver Disney sitted on a bench with Minnie Mouse pays homage to the brother of Walt Disney.
Between 1973 and October 1992 the opera accommodates the Walt Disney Story for the 50e birthday of Walt Disney Productions, composed of an exposure of memories and documentary on Walt Disney in two theaters of 300 places.

It was built in homage to the Crystal De luxe hotel of the great exposure of 1851 to London which was held in Hyde Park. This exposure was the apogee and the commemoration of art victorien. This building was the principal hall of exposure with restaurants, fountains, a circus and even of the raised gardens, the whole under an immense canopy of 3-4 stages. It was destroyed by a fire in 1936.

Adventureland

The buildings close to Liberty Square evoke those of Saint Louis to the Missouri towards 1840 during the economic and demographic explosion of the city, starting point for the American West. A saloon accommodates the spectacle of the Diamond Horseshoe inspired of the cancan.

A little more towards the west (as in reality) the Grizzy Hall inspired of architecture of the forests of the North-West of the the United States point of disjunction the Country Bear Jamboree . This attraction envisaged originally by Marc Davis for the recreational center of Mineral King was built in Florida because of the abandonment of the other project.

Still more towards the west the mountain of Splash Mountain is drawn up proudly in the prolongation of the bank. It was open in July 1992, on the site of the old station of the Walt Disney World Railroad, it is a copy almost in conformity of that of Disneyland.

Right before reaching this attraction a way leads to Fantasyland.

Fantasyland

The buildings of left accommodate mainly the " dark rides" characters of Disney fairy tale. While the buildings of right-hand side accommodate other attractions.

  • It' S.A. Small World is built not like a house separate but integrated into the decoration of Fantasyland , illustrating a medieval tournament. Attraction is in a building on the left. Since 2005 the interior decoration of the queue was modified in order to echo the house of Disneyland.

Fantasyland: Disappeared attractions

  • Mr. Toad' S Wild Wrinkles . A special attraction of the Magic Kingdom , Mr. Toad' S Wild Ride told in the form of a " dark ride" adventures of M.Crapeau. It closed to be replaced in 2001 by Winnie the bear cub.

  • the Theater of Fantasyland . The opening an attraction made it possible to see and hear a concert given by the characters of Disney under the direction of Mickey, the whole in audio-animatronics. It was the Mickey Mouse Revue . In September 1980, the decision to move attraction was taken, it reopened in 1983 with Tokyo Disneyland. Attraction closed in 1994 for reasons of maintenance. The lake was drained and filled in 2004-2005 to be replaced by a zone of meeting with the Disney characters.
The space only released by attraction would make it possible to double the surface of Fantasyland. Or if one pushes until the way of railroad (towards north) and to banks of the Rivers off America (towards the west) the zone would make it possible to build several countries whose mythical Discovery Bay, the surface corresponds about to that of the influence of the Rivers off America is ten hectares.

Mickey' S Toontown Fair

Opened the June 18th 1988 in order to celebrate the 60e birthday of Mickey Mouse, the country of Mickey' S Birthdayland was a fair with tents where the visitors could meet their preferred characters. But success was important, the country was renamed Mickey' S Starland and the concept used and extended for the Mickey' S Toontown of Disneyland.

In 1996 the country was renovated to become a country version of Mickey' S Toontown and was renamed Mickey' S Toontown Fair . A Russian mountain for children was added, the Barnstormer; it makes it possible to fly on small aircraft around the farm of Donald Grandmother.

The house of Nutcase, that of Minnie and the boat of Donald supplement the site.

A mythical cow lived a long time in the farm, Minnie MOO , cow " normande" who had on the forming side three tasks celebrates it head of Mickey.

Tomorrowland

First Tomorrowland was built with the image of that of Disneyland, it was a space airport of an immaculate white. New Tomorrowland (1994)

The extraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was an attraction where at the time of an interplanetary congress in the laboratory X-S Tech , a company presents the extraterrestrial ones. Unfortunately the demonstration does not occur as not envisaged. It opened in 1994 instead of Mission to Mars but was closed in 2003 to be replaced by Stitch' S Great Escape!.

Buzz Lightyear' S Space Ranger Spin opened in November 1998 in the place of Take Flight. It is a " balade" in the space where the visitor must help the hero to kill the monsters of the Zorg Emperor to blow of laser beam, each target reached marking of the points. A baptized more sophisticated version Buzz Lightyear' S Astro Blasters exists with Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland in which the vehicles are not dependant on rails (ground or ceiling).

In 1975 the house Carousel off Progress of the international exhibition of New York 64-65 arrived to Florida after a few years at Disneyland. The spectacle lost its principal song there. Around the place a transport system makes it possible to make the turn of the country. It is the WEDWay PeopleMover , open since July 1st 1975 and famous Tomorrowland Transit Authority in 1996. It is inspired by the same system of WEDWay builds with Disneyland and since missing, the PeopleMover .

A theater occupies space between the attraction of Buzz the flash and the circular building of the Carousel off Progress. It is used little.

The June 7th 2006, Disney announces that attraction Timekeeper must be replaced by an alternative of Monsters, Inc. : Mike & Sulley To The Rescue! named The Laugh Floor Comedy Club. It must open in 2007.

Neighborhoods of the park

In front of the park the artificial lagoon Seven Seas Lagoon, connected to a natural lake Bay Lake, made it possible to drain the many marshes in Florida. Around this lake, hotels were built, connected between them by a monorail. The way of the monorail is double allowing the passage of another direct monorail connecting the park to an enormous carpark of surface.
