Maffliers
Maffliers is a common French, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants are called Maffliérois (be).
Geography
The commune is located at approximately 30 km in the north of Paris, with orée of the Forêt of Isle-Adam. This old aristocratic village has beautiful fields of huntings and charming manors.The commune is served by a station located at Montsoult.
History
The name comes is Germanic lar , moor, and of farmhouse , mount; or perhaps of maf , mount, and of flare , sheets or flowers.
The place is mentioned in a charter of 832 like property of the Abbaye of Saint-Denis. Bouchard V of Montmorency founds there in 1163 the priory Grandmontain de Merret-les-Maffliers which knew the decline and was removed in 1772, then, sold and transformed. In 1602, the ground becomes the property of Jean Forget, president of the Parlement of Paris, and the seigniory is set up in baronnie. Since the years 1960, the village becomes gradually rurbain, but preserves farms. The village was illustrated by the painter Madeleine Luka who was born to with it.
