Maelstrom (comics)

Maelstrom is super-unpleasant created by Marvel Comics (Mark Gruenwald), appeared for the first time in Marvel Two-in-One #71.

It is one of most powerful adversaries the than faced Quasar.

Origin

Maelstrom is an hybrid of Deviating and Inhumains, the only known one to date. Old of a hundred years, it has a terrible capacity, and is as intelligent as it is insane.

His/her father, Phaeder was exiled city of Attilan after he proclaimed to want to create clones. He failed in a Deviating city, where he married a named woman Morga. She gave rise to Maelstrom. This last was thorough in the slave wells, while his/her mother was killed. It was saved by his father, and together, they prepared their revenge against the race of Deviating and the Inhuman ones.

Maelstrom, under the councils of its father, became one of the largest geneticists of the world. He worked with several super-criminals to obtain more information. With its work, it is indirectly at the base of several events of the Univers Marvel, like Saga of the Clone of Spider-Man, the Red resurrection of Crâne…

It eliminated his father and launched out in the crime of great scale, until it is décorporralisé. Simple éthéré spirit, it met Chronos, him also without body, which spoke to him about Oblivion. It adapted the capacity of Anomaly and sought to become pure scientific Loi, (kind of under-entity of Chaos). It even tried to make crumble all the universe on itself, so that there remains only him, then being able to recreate a world according to its desires. But its plans failed.

It was finally destroyed by Quasar, whose capacities had been increased by Origine, which surprised Maelstrom, and which was devoured by its own energy.

It was brought back to life by its servants, but when he learned that he had almost killed his own hidden son, Ransak, he disappeared.

Recently, it returned at the great day, even more powerful. The Avengers being separated, there remained only the Vengeurs of the Big lakes to bar the road to him. It easily succeeds in stealing the material which it needed, and it killed Dinah Soar.

It engaged the Brigade of Batroc and the latter faced the Avengers of the Big lakes again, killing Grasshopper in the brawl.

However, Mister Immortal succeeds in trapping it, and Maelstrom committed suicide.

Capacities

Maelstrom is one of the most powerful characters of the Universe. It can handle various types of energy and it makes use of this capacity to absorb the force of the attacks carried against him, and to emit powerful flashes of energy or to create shields of plasma.
Maelstrom mentally controls also its size, being able to grow and reduce with still unknown sizes.
Its chart single Génétique gives him a force quite higher than that of a man, and he learned how to increase it further, by absorbing the kinetic energy. Once, it even absorbed the force Kinétique of the whole Earth. Its force was not measured but it seemed unlimited.
Maelstrom is a genius, versed in scientific arts, like biology and the genetics. It is a very good technician.
