Madlib

Madlib (of its true name Otis Jackson Jr. ) is an artist and creative Californian of Hip-hop very largely influenced by the Jazz and in particular by Sun Ra.

Madlib was born with Oakland, California, parents musicians. It grew with Oxnard and currently lives with Los Angeles. Its first steps in the music were done within the group Lootpack at the beginning of the Années 1990.

In 2000, it leaves its first album solo, The Unseen under the disguise of Quasimoto . For this album, Madlib/Quasimoto records its voice on rates/rhythms with the idle, the whole is accelerated thereafter to return the high-perched voice characteristic of Quasimoto.

In 2001, Madlib launches out in the Jazz under its official name, Otis Jackson Jr., within the Yesterdays New Quintet . It has left several albums of which a homage to Stevie Wonder in 2002.

Always around the Jazz, it leaves an album Remixes on the famous label Blue Note in 2003.

Lately, he collaborated with two MCs, J Dilla and MF Doom, and left two albums, Champion Sound in 2003 and Madvillainy in 2004. A new album of Quasimoto left in 2005.

Imaginative DJ Rels is yet another moniker for the prolific and Madlib (aka Otis Jackson, Jr.), although the notes off his 2004 beginning album, Theme for has Broken Soul, C credit work to has " J. Relmond." Madlib created DJ Rels after having gone to London' S Co-COp happy Club and hearing the broken scene there (in fact, He is often compared to West Londoners Seiji and Bugz in the Attic). His first 12" individual, " Diggin in Brownswood, " cam out in 2003 and was widely praised, including by his own Stones Throw label, which now acknowledges DJ Rels to Be year alter ego off Madlib.
