Madeleine de Souvré, marchioness of Sanded , born with the castle from Courtenvaux in 1599 and died with Port-Royal the January 16th 1678, was a French writer E .

Girl of Gilles de Souvré, marquis de Courtanvaux, baron de Lezines, Marshal of France and tutor of Louis XIII and sister of Mrs. de Lansac, Madeleine de Sablé wife in 1614 Philippe Emmanuel of Laval, marquis de Sablé who dies in 1640, leaving it in a somewhat restricted financial position. With her friend the countess of Saint Maur, it is established Royal Place, in Paris, where it opens a literary Salon from which will leave the literary kind whose Maximes of Rochefoucauld are the most known example. In 1655, it is withdrawn, with the countess of Saint-Maur, with the convent of Port-Royal-of-Fields, close to Marly then, with its closing in 1661, with Auteuil. In 1669, it is established with the convent of Royal Port of Paris until its death.

Although they were published only after its death, the Maximes of the marchioness of Sanded were made up before those of Rochefoucauld.
