Madeleine-Sophie Barat

Holy Madeleine-Sophie Barat (December 13rd 1779, Joigny (Yonne) - May 25th 1865, Paris).

Girl of a wet cooper of Joigny, under the spiritual direction of the Father Varin, it is the founder in 1800 of the Congregation of the Sœurs of the Sacred Heart (Société of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) dedicated to the education of the young girls (Amiens /1801 first boarding school of which it takes the direction, Grenoble /1805, Poitiers, Niort /1808, Beauvais, Lyon, Bordeaux, Mans, Autun, Besancon, Turin, Metz, Lille, Perpignan, Avignon, Rome, Brussels/1836, Marseilles, Nantes, Turns, Algeria /1844, Laval, Montpellier, Nancy, Galicie).

It was béatifiée by Pie X, the May 24th 1908, then canonized by Pie XI, the May 24th 1925.
