Maddan
Maddan is a legendary king of the island of Brittany (current Great Britain), whose “history” is reported by Geoffroy de Monmouth in his Historia regum Britanniae (towards 1135). He is the son of Locrinus and Guendoloena. Its reign would have lasted 40 years.
The kingdom of the island of Brittany
After the Trojan War, Énée arrives in Italy, with his/her Ascagne son and becomes the Master of the kingdom of the Romans. Its grandson Brutus is constrained with the exile after having accidentally killed his father. After a long navigation, Brutus unloads in the island of Brittany (from where its name of “Brutus of Brittany”), occupies it and makes its kingdom of it. He marries Innogen of which he has three wire. With its death of his/her father, the kingdom is divided in three parts: Locrinus receives the center from the island to which it gives the name of “Loegrie”, Kamber receives the “Cambrie” (current Wales) and its name gives him, Albanactus inherits the area of north and calls it “Albania” (Scotland).
Maddan
After a war against the Huns, Locrinus becomes the only king. He marries Guendoloena, girl of Corineus king of Cornouailles, a companion of his father. They have a son, Maddan, whose education is entrusted to his/her grandfather. With died of this last, Guendoloena is repudiated and replaced by the mistress of the king, Estrildis. Guendoloena goes in Cornouailles where it raises an army. The battle takes place close to the Stour river where Locrinus is killed. Victorious, Guendoloena becomes main kingdom and orders that Estrildis and its Habren son are precipitated in a river now named Severn, according to the name of Habren.
Guendoloena reigns 15 years after Locrinus and entrusts the kingdom to his/her Maddan son when it becomes adult. The reign of Maddan lasts forty years, it is one period of peace for its subjects. From its marriage, are born two wire Mempricius and Malim of which only the first inherits. It behaves like a tyrant during 20 years.
