Madâin Sâlih

Madâin Sâlih or Madain Saleh (in Arab: مدائنصالح) is a place located at the North-West of the Saudi Arabia, 400 km of Médine and at the crossroads between the Arabic Péninsule, the Syria, the Jordan and the Mésopotamie. One finds there the vestiges of the city nabatéenne of Hégra (or Al-Hijr ) on approximately 500 Hectare S (13 km) of Désert.

Like Pétra, it was about a big city for the time, having places, streets and an important network of irrigation for the arable lands of the neighborhoods, as well as Aqueduc S and Puits bringing water downtown. It was perhaps also used as military station, being to 20 km in the north of the Royaume of Dédân
