Macross

Macross is a Japanese saga of animation of Science-fiction Mecha, of which the first opus was created by Shôji Kawamori in 1982.

The Macross series was diffused in France and in the United States under the name of Robotech. However, the episodes were gone up and the slightly modified history, because the American producer Harmony Gold wanted a series longer for American television; they needed 60 episodes minimum to be able to diffuse a cartoon, and Macross counts only 36 episodes. The idea thus came in Harmony Gold to create a longer series starting from Macross, by associating there the Japanese series Southern Cross and Mospaeda. Thus was born Robotech, divided into 3 segments: the saga Macross, Masters of Robotech and the New generation. The stories of the three series are modified in order to be unified within the same continuity, starting from the saga Macross. With each series a generation of human corresponds.

To also announce that the American version of the saga Macross has musics and songs which are not those of the Japanese version; the names of the characters were also américanisés. (This version is also that which was diffused on television French).

-497 600 (2400 CP): Protoculture begins colonization from space with vessels sub-luminic;

-497 130 (2870 PC): vessels of Protoculture explore the Earth and make there emerge clones, the human ones, in order to prepare future colonization; the vessel is destroyed by the other faction of Protoculture, leaving the Earth in the lapse of memory;
-497 129 (2871 PC): the Evil project is finalized, but the conscience of the zentradiens of the Evil series is parasitized by Spiritia, an energy resulting from the under-universe of Varauta; the zentradiens of the Evil series revolt and become Protodeviln;
-497 128 (2872 PC): the protodevilns form the Army of supervision and extend quickly and occupy more than 30% of the Republic of Protoculture, converting the members of Protoculture by washing of brain; members of Protoculture déprogramment zentradiens so that those can fight the “converted” members; a few months later, the Army of supervision occupies 85% of the Republic;
-497 127 (2873 PC): the power of the protodelvins declines quickly; the members of Animated Spiritia discover that they have a capacity on the protodelvins and succeed in containing them then to lock up them;
-497 125 - -497 000 (2875 - 3000 PC): the Republic of Protoculture fails in its attempt at rebuilding, in particular because of new independence of the zentradiens which are opposed to their creators, and the bond between the colonies of Protoculture étiole, causing the collapse of the stellar Republic; the war between the remaining zentradiens and protodelvins intensifies;
1999: the ASS-1, a vessel of the Army of supervision, is crushed on Earth on the island of Atalie of the South.

Note : Do You Remember Love (超時空要塞マクロス愛・おぼえていますか Have Oboete Imasu ka) is an “internal” film in the world of Macross, left in 2031 and which reports a history which took place in 2009.

Macross Zero (マクロスゼロ) is a prelude to Macross , carried out by Shôji Kawamori of 2002 with 2004. It comprises five episodes (OAV) thirty minutes.

It reports the war of unification, the last human war which were held between the fall of the ASS-1 (1999) and the arrival of Zentradiens (2009), opposing one ( United Nations , world government) and the anti-a nations.

It is with this series that all the saga Macross began.

In 1999, a gigantic extraterrestrial spaceship (named ASS-1 for Alien Space Ship) is crushed on the island of Atalie of the South in the Pacific Ocean. The states of the world, conscious of the danger which can represent extraterrestrial people having reached this technology, are linked to restore the vessel, creating the SDF-1 Macross (Super Fortress-1 Dimension).

In 2009, whereas one is on the point of inaugurating the SDF-1, of the extraterrestrial vessels approaches the terrestrial orbit. Initially wishing to move away the extraterrestrial threat from the Earth, the commander Global orders a fold, i.e. a flight hyperspatial to approach the Moon; but because of a dysfunction, Macross involves the island like two aircraft carriers crossing in the vicinity, and the unit rematérialise (of-fold) on the orbit of Pluto.

After the repatriation of 56.000 civilians on board, Macross tries to regain the Earth…

Macross - C You Remember Coils? is in fact a film made in the world of Macross, a reconstitution of a history having taken place lasting the war against the zentradiens (2009-2012). In the internal chronology, the film left in 2031, but the action which he reports passes in 2009.

; Macross: flashback 2012

Macross : flashback 2012 (マクロス FlashBack 2012) is a OAV left in 1987, which marks the end of the serial Super Dimension Defense Fortress Macross by a concert of Lynn Minmei. She sings her best songs while extracts of the series and film of Macross ravel. One finds there also scenes new produced especially for the occasion.

Macross II

Macross II was created by Big West whereas the Nue studio left the Macross license in waste land, therefore without the participation of the creator of the series. He was not integrated in the official temporal line of Macross and is regarded as an “alternative” chronology.
