Macropygia phasianella

The brown phasianelle ( Macropygia phasianella ) is a species of Australian Pigeon of the kind Macropygia.

Description

It measures 40 to 43 centimetres length. Its plumage is brown-russet-red. The male often has pink and green reflections on the neck. It has a very long tail and short wings.

Distribution and habitat

One finds it in the East of Australia since Weipa and Aurukun, in the North of the Queensland, until Bega in News-Wales-of-South in the South and towards the west until Atherton and Toowoomba. In the event of lack of food, it can go up towards North until in New Guinea, Indonesia and even Filipino. He lives in the forests and wood.

Food

He nourishes bays.

Lifestyle

He lives in couples or small groups. He flies on short distances and flies away with great noise.

Reproduction

The season of the loves is in spring and in summer. It makes a nest of branches and lianas in the fork or at the top of a tree. It lays only one egg.
