Macrobiotics
The term of macrobiotics is composed starting from the Greek elements " macro " , large, and " bio " , life. Macrobiotics indicates in a general way, a particular food mode associated with the teaching developed by Georges Ohsawa starting from second half of the XXe century.
The macrobiotics of Georges Ohsawa is presented in the form of a philosophy to whole share and not as a simple food mode (although the word Macrobiotique passed in the current language to qualify any frugal mode containing cereals).
History
Macrobiotics as a method of longevity, is a very old concern since it is about the whole of the rules of hygiene and the behaviors intended to prolong the life. With the wire of the centuries, this concern was maintained as for example work Marsile Ficin in XVe century testifies some To triplici vita , or those of Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland at the XIXe century Die Makrobiotik .In the years 1929-1935, Georges Ohsawa comes to France, in Paris, is registered with the Sorbonne, attends the Institut Pasteur and the National library. He returns to France in 1957 to present what he calls " a new macrobiotics completely vacuum-cleaned and revivified by the Single Principle of Extreme-Orient". Into a few years of the thousands of followers convert with the secrecies of the kitchen macrobiotics.
Principles
It is founded on the principle taoist of the complementarity between the yin and the yang, the yin being energy Centrifuge, cooling and the yang energy Centripète, heating. Various the Aliment S is distributed on this scale: at the yang end of the balance are salt, the eggs and the meat, at the end yin, the aqueous fruits, softnesses, sugar, the chemicals. The cereals, located halfway, are regarded as balanced.
Criticisms
Yin classification and Yang of food does not have any scientific base. Georges Ohsawa informs that “the practice without the theory is dangerous, the theory without practice is useless”. In spite of this council, some in France regarded the teaching of Georges Ohsawa as " sectaire". It is besides after the suicide of his/her son, who had practiced macrobiotics, that the writer Roger Ikor founded the Center Against mental Handling.
