Macrin
Macrin ( Marcus Opellius Macrinus ) (v. 165 - 218) is a Roman Emperor which reigned of 217 with 218. Macrin is the first emperor has to result from a family of knights of Berber origin .
Biography
Prefect of the court under his predecessor Caracalla, it is often shown to have financed its assassination. Its coup d'etat corresponds to the beginning of a phase of rise of noble and notable the Moors, which played a great part in the empire in IIIe century. He itself was assassinated after having tried in vain to be opposed to the rising of one legion at the instigation of the cousins of Caracalla, of which one succeeds to him under the name of Élagabal.
Macrin was born towards 165 in Césarée (Cherchell) in Maurétanie Cesarean (current Algérie). It gradually climbs the levels of the tax authorities, before entering the customers of one of richest senators of the time. He was the first emperor resulting from the equestrian besides order (he associated with the throne his son Diadumenianus). Its reign was also too short so that it has time to come to Rome: it remained primarily with Antioche, and its principal feat of arms was the signature of a peace treaty with the Parthes very favorable to the latter. Coming from the civil administration, it was also made hate army while planning to reconsider certain advantages granted by Caracalla, which supported the revolt which caused its loss.
