Macinaggio
Macinaggio (in Corsican Machjinaghju ) is the marine of Rogliano, located on the Eastern point of the Corsica Cape. It is in edge of a site Natura 2000 protected and classified, including/understanding the islands of Finocchiarola and the field of Casinca. The old trade and fishing port was one of the most active ports of Corsica at the 19th century. The port of pleasure, built on the old one, is the first of the Cape Corsica, with 600 rings, and faced the coast Toscane and in the islands of Capraia and Elba. The estival Tourisme is strongly active there.
It was also the place of many historical unloadings (see below). At the House of the Port the lucky finds of the archeological sites are deposited.
Historical anecdotes
- Macinaggio is the port where Napoleon Bonaparte at the time of his return of exile unloaded on the isle of Elba.
- Pascal Paoli unloaded the July 14th 1790 with the port of Macinaggio where it was accommodated by the inhabitants of the commune of Rogliano.
