Machaouach
The Mâchaouach (or Meshwesh, My) are the members of a tribe Libyenne antique, Berbères. This tribe was known Egyptians since strong a long time: its name is reproduced on the list of the people invaders overcome by Mérenptah (towards -1213/-1202), wire and successor of Ramsès {{II}}.
During the XI E, part of this tribe infiltrates peacefully in the delta where reign. These My (diminutive of Mâchaouach) found a kind of stronghold, of Chefferie, around Bubastis. Their leaders, the chiefs as of My, become increasingly influential. One among them, Sheshonq, even manages to rise on the throne and founds it (- 945/v. - 715). (- 818/-715), competitor, is resulting from the same family, and thus as of My. They are called Libyan dynasties. It should be noted that an other Libyan tribe played a big role in the ancient Egypt, the Libou.
