Maceo Parker

Maceo Parker is a saxophonist (viola) and Compositeur of Funk and Soul jazz.

Biography

Maceo was born on February 14th, 1943 with Kinston (North Carolina) in a family from musicians: his/her parents sang in a choral society of church and his/her two brothers Melvin and Kellis played of the Batterie and the Trombone. Thanks to their uncle (leader of the group Blue Notes), the three Parker wire assemble a group and day in the night clubs.

In 1964, James Brown sought a beater for its group and auditioned the brother of Maceo, Melvin. James Brown was very allured by Melvin and engaged the two brothers after a strong insistence of Melvin. He played during 25 years at the sides of the godfather while contributing with his saxophone and his creativity to the largest tubes. Used by a James Brown very authoritative and very demanding, it decides to start its career solo or in company of The JB' S Horns, Fred Wesley & The Horny Horn, Funkadelic. It was, in 1977, the leader of the rhythm sections of George Clinton and Bootsy Collins.

It began really its career in time that leader in 1990 with his album, Roots revisited .

His/her son, Corey Parker joined it in his musical adventure for the albums Funkoverloads and School' S In .

Maceo joined the group of Prince since the year 2000, and takes part in its rounds.

Today, Maceo a man of scene which connects 250 concerts in the year, a spectacle of more than 2 hours and half each evening.
