History
MacBook Pro
MacBook Pro was presented by Steve Jobs at the time of the Macworld Expo the January 10th 2006. Before even arriving on the racks, speeds of processors were increased. It was the " speed bump" fastest of the history of Apple. During repairs of this series, the mother board are replaced by a more recent model which corrects the initial problems of heating (but not problems of noise). This change is not accompanied by any other improvement, but comes with a new handset from DVD from installation, into 10.4.6 instead of 10.4.5.
MacBook Pro (17-inch)
MacBook Pro 17" on April 24th, 2006 was introduced.
MacBook Pro (Glossy)
At the time of the exit of MacBook May 16th, 2006, MacBook Pro (15" and 17") were proposed with the same brilliant screens as their little brothers, but only on request.
MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duet)
October 24th, 2006, MacBook Pro profited in their turn (after the IMac) from the new processors Core 2 Duet, according to Apple 29% faster than the preceding models.
Characteristics
The current version of MacBook Pro is equipped with a processor Intel Core 2 given rhythm Duet with 2,2 GHz or 2,4 GHz, of an hard drive of 120 Go (5400tr/min) or 160 Go (5400tr/min or 7200tr/min) or 200 Go (4200tr/min), of a graphics card GeForce 8600M WP with 128 or 256 Mo of memory GDDR3, of a capacity of reception from 2 to 4 Go of random access memory, of a broad screen of 15,4" of a native resolution of 1440x900 pixels, of a camera ISight integrated as well as backlighted keyboard and of a trackpad integrating the scrolling. The machine is delivered with an Apple Remote and side of the software one finds an operating system Mac OS X 10.5 with Front Row and ILife '08. Finally according to Steve Jobs, the performances would be 4 to 5 times higher than those of the last Powerbook. The machine has a mass of 2,54 kg and the design is virtually identical to the precedents PowerBook 15" Aluminum. It is however finer (just like the last PowerBook 17"), with thickness a 2,59 cm, and introduced a broad screen of 15,4" , whereas the PowerBook precedents offered only 15,2" of it;.
New MacBook Pro includes two ports USB 2.0, two ports FireWire (one 400 and one 800), a slot ExpressCard (the replacement of the PC Card), as well as an exit DVI (an adapter VGA is provided and that for a S-Video exit/Composite will be sold separately).
It innovates with a new connector of magnetic food, MagSafe. This connector makes it possible to protect the computer if one butts in the wire when the portable is connected to the sector. Indeed, the wire of food is then disconnected from MacBook Pro, in order to prevent that this last does not suffer damage.
