Macaw macavouanne

The Ara macavouanne ( Orthopsittaca manilata ) is a Perroquet Psittacinae with the plumage with dominant green.

Description

This bird presents a green plumage with the brownish chest green, the red belly and the rémiges azure. The naked face is yellow, the maroon irises and the black nozzle. This bird measures approximately 50 cm and does not present a sexual Dimorphisme.

Distribution

This bird populates the Bolivia, the Brésil (Mato Grosso and Goias until Bahia), the Colombia, the Ecuador, the French Guiana, the Peru, the Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and the Venezuela.

Habitat

This bird lives in the wood of palm trees of the littoral marshy zones but also in savannas.

Behavior

This bird forms gatherings being able to count to 100 individuals. These bands move in the search of food rich person zones. Sometimes this species joins the the Amazon with orange wings or the Amazon aourou ( Amazona amazonica ).
