Macamic
Macamic is a Canadian Ville of the province of Quebec located in the regional municipality of county of Abitibi-West and in the administrative area of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
Macamic borrowed its name from the homonymous lake, name which means in algonquin lame beaver .
Chronology
- February 15th 1918: Constitution of the municipality of the plain cantons of Royal-Roussillon-and-Poularies .
- April 23rd 1919: The village municipality of Macamic is detached from Royal-Roussillon-and-Poularies.
- May 7th 1924: Poularies is detached from Royal-Roussillon-and-Poularies.
- August 27th 1926: Constitution of the municipality of Colombourg .
- 1952 : Royal-Roussillon-and-Poularies become the municipality of the parish of Royal-Roussillon-to-Macamic .
- 1955 : The village of Macamic changes its statute for that of city.
- 1961 : Royal-Roussillon-of-Macamic becomes the municipality of the parish of Macamic .
- June 13rd 2001: Constitution of the news town of Macamic following the fusion of the old city and the parish of Macamic.
- March 6th 2002: Constitution of the news town of Macamic by the fusion of the old city and Colombourg.
