Maïdo

Mountainous Summit of the Meeting culminating with approximately 2.200 meters of altitude, the Maïdo is located on the communal territory of Saint-Paul and dominates the Cirque of Mafate.

Bordered of tamarins the Tops in its central part, the forest road which leads to the top is appreciated picnickers, with the result that Maïdo is the natural site more visited island after the Pas of Bellecombe.

Moreover, the site is famous for those which practice VTT, insofar as it is possible to go down by tracks dedicated from the top to Saint-Gilles, on the west coast of the island. It is close to the top that the departure of the Mégavalanche is marked, test of Marathon-descent of organized world class each year.
