MK2 Library
MK2 Bibliothèque is a cinema of the group MK2, located Avenue of France in the 13th district of Paris, in France.
Description
The MK2 Bibliothèque was inaugurated on February 19th, 2003. It is for this reason one of the last cinemas built in Paris. It is located in the 13 {{E}} district, on a triangular ground all in length (more than 300 m length on 30 m broad) between the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand (which gave its name to the site) and the rails of the Gare of Austerlitz. As almost all the recent Parisian cinemas, it is about a Multiplexe; with 14 rooms, it is about the largest cinema of the group MK2. Conceived by the architects Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Veronique Kirchner and Serge Barbet spaniel, the MK2 Bibliothèque is articulated around a central street proposing of the ancillary services (restaurant, shops, temporary exhibitions). Both plus big rooms are located in height, the others in basement. Its rooms have also the characteristic to offer benches of two places when the corresponding balustrades are raised, drawn by the designer Martin Szekely.
The MK2 Bibliothèque was one of the important components of the installation and the revitalization of the ZAC Paris Left bank. It is indeed the only trade attracting a public, the evening and lasting the weekend, in this zone primarily made up of offices. On the other hand, the opening of this multiplexes was followed by the closing of two cinemas of the 13th district, Gaumont Gobelins Rodin on the Avenue of the Goblins and Gaumont Large-Screen Italy with the Place of Italy.
