MAIF

MAIF is the Mutual insurance of the teachers of France , it was rested by teachers in 1934 under the initials MAAIF for Mutuelle auto insurance of the teachers of France .

History

In 1935 it settles with Niort. Its first president was Edmond Proust.

The great principles of the founders are:

  • independence with respect to the great financial groups,
  • solidarity between members,
  • responsibility for the members,
  • proposed, in the charter and the action of the mutual insurance company, of values such as the Républicanisme and the Secularity.

Since, the MAIF widened its sphere of activity beyond the car with:

  • 1938 : compensation for the body damage
  • 1952: regrouping of the guarantees car in only one contract (before there were four of them: insurance civil responsibility car, flight and fire of the vehicle, defense and recourse, compensation for the body damage)
  • 1962: multigaranties dwelling called RAQVAM ( Risks Other than Motor vehicles ). Previously, several contracts covered the dwelling, the civil responsibility…
  • 1966: creation of MAIF assistance which becomes IMA (Inter Mutuelles Assistance) in 1981 in partnership with the two other Niort mutual insurance companies (MAAF, MACIF).

Initially, the MAIF was reserved for only the Instituteur S, then opened its doors with the other members of the state education, then with those of research, the culture.

In 1988: creation of filia-Maif which accommodates the children of the members and the members who by changing work lose their statute education nationale.
A little later is created the Public limit company Serena , whose MAIF is only one shareholder, to market performances of service in residence.

Since 2002, the MAIF launched out in the publicity televised with the signature: “MAIF militant Insurer”.

The MAIF and the MACIF set up end 2005 a partnership with the Groupe Savings bank in the field of the Bancassurance.

Maif counts today more than 5.800 employees and more than 600 militants divided on the unit of the territory and is an inevitable actor of the economy.

Its current president is Roger Belot.
