M26

The astronomical object M26 (or NGC 6694 ) is a open Amas located in the Constellation of the Écu of Sobieski, and discovered in 1764 by Charles Messier, which includes it in its catalogs stars the same year.

This cluster is located roughly at 5000 light-years Solar system, with an apparent ray of 15 minutes of arc, which taking into account the distance gives approximately a 22 light-years extent. Its age is generally estimated at 89 million years.

The most brilliant star of this unit has a Magnitude connect of +11,9.

One of the characteristics of M26 is a zone almost deprived of star S near the heart of the cluster, probably due to the presence of a opaque cloud of interstellar matter between this one and the Ground.
