Münchener Rückversicherung

When the company Münchener Rückversicherung or Munich Re was founded in 1880, it was one of the first companies of independent Réassurance. Since this time, the reinsurers have acts as a Risk manager, assuming a share of the risks subscribed by the insurers. So that, in the chain of value of the Insurance, insurer and reinsurer are two complementary links.

Shortly after its creation, the group developed its activities apart from Munich. In 1886, one attends the first establishments in Europe, follow-up of a subsidiary company in the USA in 1899.
