Mölkky
The mölkky (delivery meulkku ) is a play of address Finnish. Originating in the southernmost area of the Päijät-Häme, it is practiced in the open air, it acts to mark 50 points exactly by reversing numbered skittles from 1 to 12.
Composition and rules of the game
Skittles
They are pieces of wood simply round, and truncated with the head. On the truncated part, the number of the skittle appears thus to the player who launches. The twelve skittles are placed at the beginning of the part in a precise order in four lines, a little as with billiards.
The beginning of the play
The player launches the stick " neutre" (that which does not have a number) in the building placed at 3 or 4 meters. The score of the player depends on the number of reversed skittles:- if it makes fall a skittle, it marks the value of the skittle;
- if it makes fall several skittles, it marks the number of fallen skittles.
End of the play
It is a question of marking 50 exactly, therefore for the approach of this score, it is necessary to be careful and to reverse only the skittles likely to make reach 50 by their value (if only one skittle falls) or their number (if several skittles fall). If for example the score is of 48, the player must make fall two unspecified skittles or the skittle number 2 and only this one. If the score is of 49, the only solution consists in making fall the skittle n°1 and no other. If the score is exceeded, 25 points are deduced. The first player with 50 gains the part, which can be played in teams (2 to see 3 players).
