Méziré
Méziré is a commune of the Territoire of Belfort attached to the canton of Grandvillars. The village is located at the edge of Allan , river resulting from the union of Muddy the and Allaine , between Morvillars and Fesches-le-Châtel (department of the Doubs).
The name of Méziré (or Lord , Miserach in the German titles) is quoted starting from 1317. In 1333, after the death of Renaud of Burgundy, the stronghold returns to his/her daughter Jeanne of Montbeliard. At the time of the division of the succession of the latter, it is his/her daughter Jeanne of Montbeliard-Ferrette wife of the archduke of Austria which inherits it. Méziré, as Morvillars to which it is attached, becomes Austrian possession then. As of the end of the XVIIe century, starts to develop metallurgical industry in the area and a wire-drawing mill is built by Pierre of Basinière, lord of Morvillars. Several castles and houses of Masters were built by Viellard, ironmasters of the area. A private vault (photo attached), only place of worship of the commune, was arranged in an old farm by Etienne Viellard.
