Métrosexuel
Métrosexuel is a term appeared in English for the first time in 1994 in an article of the English journalist Mark Simpson in the newspaper The Independent .
Mark Simpson defines the métrosexuel as follows: “ The metrosexual, is male year urban off any sexual orientation who has strong esthetic judicious and spends has great deal off time and money one his appearance and lifestyle. ” In other words, the métrosexuel is an urban man of any sexual orientation having a developed direction of the Esthétique, which spends enormously of time and money in its appearance and its lifestyle.
One uses this term to qualify people who pay great attention to them, take care of their body, their food, etc This qualifier is given to many personalities such as David Beckham, Robbie Williams, or Frederic Michalak.
The word is composed of “subway” compared to the metropolitan man and of “sexual”: the man (in the context of seduction and sexual attraction).
Its opposite is the übersexuel.
Metrosexuality in the literature
In the Chronic of the vampires of Anne Rice, the main character (Lestat de Lioncourt) can be qualified of métrosexuel.
Metrosexuality on television
The metrosexuality is the subject of an episode of the Cartoon South Park (8e episode of season 7)
American Psycho, Patrick Bateman is a métrosexuel.
