Métatarse

The métatarse is the whole of five Os long, being articulated by their base with the bones of the tarsus, and with their heads with the bases of the first phalange S of the Orteil S.

Detailed description

Each métatarsiens is composed of 3 parts: the Métaphyse Proximale or bases, the Diaphyse or body and the métaphyse Distale or head.
The Diaphyse is of section triangular at base higher and slightly curved in the sagittal plan with a lower concavity.

The Fracture S of the métatarse are frequent in the players of Football. Examples largely Média stoked such wounds are that of David Beckham in 2002 and that of Wayne Rooney (Fracture doubles) in 2006.

The métatarsiens are also often the site of fractures of stress, considering which they support part of the weight of the body.
