Mérou

The term of mérou indicates several Espèce S of Poisson S of the hot seas, just as several Espèce S different can receive same vernacular name. One finds some species of mérous in the Mediterranean.

The brown mérou, Epinephelus marginatus , is probably the most required fish and most media of the Mediterranean. It can live up to 200 meters of depth. The sites where this fish imposing and not very savage elected residence are particularly appreciated plungers and photographers. The quality of its flesh in made a target of choice of the underwater fishermen. It was formerly very common, but the development of underwater hunting made devastations in the species.
