Méritocratie
The méritocratie is a system Politique, economic and social founded on the Mérite and not on the social Reproduction (system of class), the Richesse or the relations individual (system of " Copinage ").
This term tends to replace today that of Aristocratie, which lost its original direction which in the current language returns from now on wrongfully to the feudal system. To reach the méritocratie, it is necessary to set up the equal opportunity, thus, social hierarchisation is organized according to the merit (effort of the individuals), thus producing an uneven system just.
Napoleon I {{er}} tried to found a méritocratie in Europe. It was however the China which, on paper, created this system, thousand years before with the contests to reach the mandarinat. The preferential treatments were nevertheless extremely numerous in imperial China.
One also speaks about republican méritocratie.
The France, with its system of examination d' entrance in the public office and of trade, is one of the countries which set up the logic of méritocratie in its Institutions.
Factors limiting to the méritocratie
Work of the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu underlines the limits of the méritocratie while bringing the concepts of capital economic, social, cultural and symbolic system with which the individuals are unequally equipped and who thus favor those best equipped.
