Mérida (Latin: Emerita Augusta ) is a town of Spain, it is the capital of the Estrémadure. It counts 60.000 inhabitants.

The city is a very important tourist place and it is possible to visit many Roman vestiges and museums devoted to the Roman occupation.

The archaeological whole of Mérida was registered with the inheritance of UNESCO in 1993.

August 1st In 25 a. J. - C., Mérida was the capital of the Roman Province imperial of Lusitanie. At the time the city was called Augusta Merita .

Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa made build in Mérida a Triumphal arch, a Théâtre, a Amphithéâtre, three Aqueduc S, the temple of Mars and two Pont S.

August 1st From its prestigious passed of opulent Roman city, Mérida preserved a richissime inheritance archeology, including/understanding inter alia a theater, an amphitheater, aqueducts, a temple,… The archaeological Ensemble of Mérida is registered with the inheritance of UNESCO since 1993.

The city also preserves a remarkable medieval inheritance and Renaissance, of which the alcazaba omeyyade.
