Méral

Méral is a common French, located in the department of the Mayenne and the area Pays of the Loire.

Geography

Méral is a rural district located at the borders of the High Anjou, at the border of Low-Maine and close to the limits of the Brittany. It is crossed by the Oudon.

History

With the the Middle Ages and under the Old Mode, Méral was member of the baronnie of Craon. The parish concerned the Diocèse of Angers on the religious level and the Sénéchaussée of Angers on the administrative and legal level.

Personalities related to the commune

Victoire Brielle (born on January 31st, 1815 in Cormier, deceased on April 29th, 1847 with Méral). Its body was found miraculeusement intact in 1866, a score of years after the burial with the cemetery of Méral.
