Mélusine (heraldic)
The mélusine (common noun) is a imaginary heraldic Figure inspired by the Fée Mélusine (fairy), but which lost its tail of snake to the profit of a cut in front. So it becomes more one alternative of the siren of which it differs only by water from the bath: the sea or the wave of the siren is a tank for the mélusine .
Opposite: money , with the mélusine of complexion, chevelée of azure, marinaded mouths with the gold mirror and the comb of same, in its sinople bucket.
Certain authors give also the name of mélusine to the siren with double tail . This use is doubtful.
