Mélicocq
Mélicocq is a common French, located in the department of the Oise and the area Picardy.
The inhabitants are called Mélicocquoises and Mélicocquois.
Geography
Melicocq is located in Oise (60) at 11km at the north of Compiegne, to 77 km in the north of Paris. The commune is between 36 and 137m altitude.
History
Formerly Molinetum in 1200 then Melincotum. It was a village already quoted at the 7th century. Mélicocq was one of the communes of Beauvaisis that évangélisa St Amand, going to Compiegne, close to king Dagobert. It crossed the village, and made several miracles there. It ressuscita the son of a poor widow at whom he had found hospitality. St Amand founded a vault there, that time destroyed.
At the 16th century, the village had a water mill and a castle. An old Roman roadway passed " with the Mélicocq" cross; to join the way from Compiegne to Amiens.
