Mélicerte
In the Greek Mythology, Mélicerte , wire of Athamas and Ino, is the brother of Léarchos and the grandson of Cadmos, founder of the famous city of Thèbes.
Myth
Zeus entrusting the education of his/her son Dionysos whom it has of Sémélé, with his/her mother who is the sister of Sole died by giving him the day. Ino attracts itself the anger of Héra, woman of Zeus, which continues its hatred the children of Cadmos. She is avenged for Ino while making her husband insane furious; this last kills his/her son Léarchos, brother of Mélicerte, in an access of rage while precipitating with him in the sea, between Mégare and Corinthe. To save Mélicerte d' Héra, Zeus made of him a god of the sea like his mother. He becomes thus the marine god Palémon (or Palaemon ), in the honor of which the isthmian Jeux were celebrated. Known in the Roman Mythology under the name of Portunus.
