Médimne
The médimne is the measuring unit of the volume used in the ancient Greece, in particular to evaluate the quantities of foodstuffs. It belongs to the system of Corinthian weight and measurement taken again inter alia by Athens and Mégare.
1 médimne = 52 liters
The problem lies in conversion into weight; until very recently, the historians antiquisants thought that a médimne was equivalent to forty kilos of corn. A document discovered little time ago indicates that actually, a médimne corresponds to 31 kg of corn (27 kg of barley). This difference calls in question for example the hardness of the tributes which one knew the payment in médimnes.
