Médersa

Madrasa with the the Maghreb medersa , reserved at the elementary schools, in Turkey medrese , in Iran madresé .

The word indicates a school, but also a theological university Moslem, or more rarely a scientific university.

History

It was an educational establishment (near to current faculties and universities) created for the first time in the neighborhoods of Ve century of the Hégire to ensure religious higher education in general and to diffuse the doctrines sunnites in particular. Usually, the pupils were accommodated at the hotel, and the services of the Waqf dealt with them to enable them to devote itself to their studies. Another their characteristics is that the teachers were named there by the State.

Examples

Case of the the Comoros

It is the traditional school in the Comoros, they are private. They accommodate the children, girls and boys, of 3-4 years until puberty, for very moderate sums, even free for most modest. The children are sent in the education system to the Westerner, only after this course. Teaching makes it possible to the children to learn the Arab writing with the Coran, some Hadith and them bases of the Moslem cultural practices. Teaching is made in language Comorian, and in very rare cases, in Arab. It should be noted that the Koranic Masters, the foundis , can be violent one if they consider it necessary. This teaching is made almost obligatory, by the social pressure undergone by the recalcitrant ones refusing this teaching.

In Mayotte, this principle changes in order to correspond more to the French standard, which make education school principal, and religious education secondary and parallel with the first. This phenomenon also takes place for the richest social classes of the Union of the Comoros.

In the RFIC, then in the Union, the medersas are seen like a possible model of democratic education without discrimination (because concerning everyone). Also starting from 1976, the authorities of the independent islands made there register discoveries for the young people pre-school. Since 1994, there exists a project to extend the disciplines of teaching but the Masters refuse there without financial counterparts.
