Médenine

Médenine (rear RTL مدنين) is a Ville south of the Tunisia located in the plain of Djeffara (482 kilometers of Tunis and 75 kilometers in the south of Gabès).

Chief town of the governorship of the same name, it constitutes a municipality of 61.705 inhabitants.

One can find there ksour and whole of attics with provisions of semi-cylindrical form called Ghorfas. The first ghorfas of Médenine are built about the 17th century.

It is especially a starting point for many tourist circuits .

The Institut of the arid areas of Médenine, which studies the mediums of the south of Tunisia, there is established. In October 2008 should be inaugurated one of largest there the centers of dramatic art of the the Maghreb.
