Mänttä
Mänttä is a city mid-west of the Finland. It is located in the area Pirkanmaa.
It started its development in the Années 1860 when the first factory of Papier settles close to the rapids of Mäntänkoski, on the commune then rural of Ruovesi. It belongs during decades to the Serlachius family and operates still today under the name of Metsä Tissue. Towards the end of the 19th century, Serlachius diversify their activities in a factory of pumps, and Mänttä becomes a small town completely reserved for industry.
The commune becomes autonomous in 1922, then is proclaimed city in 1973. Today, it remains a largely industrial city but succeeded in becoming a small center of higher education, certain institutes of technical education there being delocalized since Tampere.
The common neighbors are Vilppula in the west, Keuruu in the North-East and Jämsä in south-east (2 last in Finland-Power station). Keuruu city is to 32 km, and Jämsä centers to just 35 km. The more important cities in the vicinity are Jyväskylä and Tampere, to approximately 90 km each one.
