Mägo of OZ is a group of Celtic Folk Metal Spanish. Their music is a traditional mixture of heavy metal in the line of Iron Maiden and Celtic Musique, the whole sung in Spanish.
In 1992, the group is finalist of the springboard rock'n'roll Villa of Madrid . The first album Mägo of OZ leaves two years afterwards. The disc meets a good success. The formation changes into 1996, with the arrival of Jose, the current singer. This same year, the group leaves its second album, a rock opera named Jesús de Chamberí . The disc is followed of an important round in Spain which strongly increases the popularity of the group.
The third album takes for topic Cervantes and Don Quichotte. Leyenda of Mancha leaves in 1998. The album of maturity for the leader of the group, Txus. Mägo of OZ takes part then in large festivals, with groups like Stratovarius or Angra.
Under the pressure of the fans, the group brings out in 1999 its first disc, Mägo of OZ , in an improved version. It will be followed a few months later of the double album Finisterra , will be regarded by the group as its best and certainly most complete. It is also the album more to date sold: the album quickly becomes Disque of gold, then Disque of platinum.
An double album live leaves in 2002. It is once again a large success. The recording does not have sudden of final improvement in studio, as it is often the case, and it very accurately retranscribes the energy and the heat in the concerts.
The following album, Gaia , leave in 2003. With a darker topic (environmental problems), the group loses a little energy, and its music becomes less festive, plus melancholic person. The keyboards take more the important one with the detriment of the guitars, the group approaches more than one style progressive Rock. This disc is the first of a trilogy, whose second volume left in 2005.
In 2004 leaves Belfast , followed in 2005 by a new double live Madrid - Mow Were windy .
End 2005, if their music lost this festivity which one perceives in Finisterra , it gains in maturity in the double album Gaia II .
