Márcos Baghdatís
Márcos Baghdatís (in Greek: Μάρκος Παγδατής ), born the June 17th 1985 with Limassol (Cyprus), is a player of Cypriot Tennis . It reached the final of Open of Australia in January 2006 during which it was inclined vis-a-vis Roger Federer.
Biography
Márcos Baghdatís was born the June 17th 1985 with Limassol (Cyprus) from a father Libanais (Christos) and from a Cypriot mother (Androula). The Baghdatís parents have a clothes shop with Paramytha, a small village close to Limassol (Paramytha means Greek “fairy tale” in ). The family home is an avoided modest residence of Greek orthodoxe icons. Baghdatis frequently embraces a gold crucifix which it carries to its neck and signs itself before each play. It has a younger sister, Zena, which were adopted at the one month age, and two older brothers, Marinos and Petros, which also played the Coupe Davis for their country. Márcos Baghdatis started to play tennis at the five years age with his/her father and his brothers. He likes to play and to look at football, he is to support club Apollon Limassol. Márcos Baghdatís was able in France at the thirteen years age (1998) to be involved with the Academy of Tennis of Mouratoglou to Paris thanks to a purse. He becomes world champion junior in 2003 and joined the ATP in 2004. He resides in Île-de-France. He is the companion of a French model, Camille Nevière, which is the daughter-in-law of its trainer (since September 2005) Guillaume Payre of French nationality.
He is the great male revelation of the year 2006. In January it reaches the final of the Open of Australia vis-a-vis Roger Federer after victories over Andy Roddick and David Nalbandian.
Battu prematurely with Roland-Garros by Julien Benneteau it reaches with the general surprise the semi-finals on the grass of Wimbledon (it is inclined against Rafael Nadal).
Le September 17th, 2006, it finally gains the tournament of Beijing while having dominated Mario Ančić (ATP 12) in two sets, 6-4 and 6-0. At the 21 years age, here it is the victorious one of first title ATP of its career.
