Lysias (general)
Lysias, general and relative of Antiochus Epiphane , king de Syrie, are sent in Palestine against Judas Macchabée, let themselves surprise by this general close to Bethsura, lose 5000 men and are put in escape (164 av. J. - C). After the death of Epiphane in 163, it seizes the capacity in the name of the young person Antiochus Eupator. It besieges Jerusalem when it learns that Philippe, who disputes regency to him, seized the capital of Syria, Antioche: it survey the seat, goes against its candidate and demolishes it.
Demétrius Soter having suddenly returned from Rome where it was retained in hotage, Lysias and Eupator abandoned and is massacred by their own guards (162).
