Lynette Scavo

Lynette Scavo (born Lindquist) is one of the main characters of the serial Desperate Housewives , played by Felicity Huffman.

History of the character

Lynette Scavo is the mother of four children: small a Penny and 3 boys, Porter, Parker and Preston, reached overdrawn Trouble of the attention, which makes the life of Lynette unbearable and exhausting. Before the birth of the twins, Lynette worked as a Businesswoman in publicity. On his side, her husband, Tom Scavo, often party in business trip, do not include/understand the situation of his wife and its place of mother envies to him. Lynette is a very frank woman, who is not afraid to say what she thinks, as during a meeting of parents of pupils, organized by Maisy Gibbons which insists on a politically correct version of the Little Red Riding Hood by persuading the other parents of pupils.

It makes also the meeting of one of the mothers present at her meeting, which acknowledges to him that it takes the drugs against the hyperactivity of her children of which the effect is opposite if the individual is not hyperactive, which makes it possible Lynette to be more active in order to fight against the sleep. However, Lynette, misusing these drugs, becomes stressed and extremely irritated until hallucinating by thinking that Mary Alice Young offered a revolver to him.

When it is sufficiently calmed, it entrusts to Bree and Susan which it is with end of forces and which it thinks of being a horrible mother. She also informs her friends of her wish: to divide with them secret and misfortunes not to finish like Mary Alice. As solution with their problem, Lynette and Tom engage a “nanny” in residence.

In season 2:

Lynette tests a certain nostalgia as for its use of businesswoman and as soon as Tom resigns to remain at the house in order to deal with his children, it agrees to turn over to work.

At the end of season 2, Lynette thinks that Tom has an adulterous relation with another woman, which it constrained from to go away from to it to go towards a hotel where his/her son is wounded after having jumped of the balcony of the apartment. It is as from this moment that Tom is explained with his wife, acknowledges to him that it has a girl, before its marriage with Lynette, called Kayla, 11 years old and whose mother is Nora Huntington: Tom learned only recently that it had had a girl with Nora.

Season 3:

In order to make it possible Kayla to more often see his/her father, Nora moves in the neighborhoods of Wisteria Lane and is encrusted in the life with Scavo, which causes the aggravation of Lynette.

Later, whereas Nora was negotiating the guard of Kayla, Lynette is found taken as an hostage, with Nora, in a supermarket. They dispute and draw the attention of Carolyn Bigsby which draws on Nora. This one requires of Lynette, before its death, to take care of his/her daughter well. The death of Nora then puts Lynette in an insane rage, which pushes Carolyn to be drawn to him above, but the trajectory is deviated by a pirn launched by another hostage with the head of Carolyn. This one draws and touches the arm of Lynette. Carolyn drops its weapon and is killed by Maya, another hostage, who seized the revolver. The taking of hostages causes two dead (Nora and Carolyn) and two wounded (Lynette and an employee of the supermarket); following these wounds, Lynette is hospitalized.

Following this taking of hostage and death of Nora, Lynette realizes that she wishes to pass more time with Tom and the children. She resigns and is engaged by Tom like managing in their restaurant. In spite of its error in the order of chairs, the opening of the pizzeria took place well.

In the episode 3x17, she complained about the uniforms oranges that she and her husband were to carry, just like the employees. She insisted at Tom so that he changes this detail but seeing his refusal, Lynette decided not to work with the pizzeria this day. The evening-even, worries that Tom still did not return, it decided to go to the restaurant and then saw Tom, unconscious with ground. Brought to the hospital, the doctor prevented it that it is about a blocking of back and that Tom was to remain lengthened 3 months minimum. It decided thereafter to engage Rick Coletti, former assistant manager of a restaurant four stars, as managing: Tom started to be odious while Lynette seems to appreciate Rick. Lynette is then obliged to lay off this last to preserve its family but acknowledges to have had feelings for him. Lynette disputes with Tom and is found at the hospital after being knocked the head, it learns there that it has a cancer. His/her mother decides to live with the family during the treatment of Lynette.

In season 4

Lynette is in full chemotherapy; it is fatally bald person. But she acknowledged her cancer with nobody, neither with her children nor with her friends. Only his/her mother and her husband are with the current. She is thus forced to carry a wig. Decided well to overcome the disease, it goes to the spectacle organized by Barcliff Academy, in which Porter plays. She is exténuée by her treatment but does not want to miss the event. However, Lynette ends up feeling very badly, it is taken of short and vomits in the bag of a relative of pupil. It is this same woman who tans it since days so that Lynette respects the commitments which it had undertaken concerning the academy, but that it cannot obviously respect, within sight of its state. Pushed with end by this woman, Lynette removes her wig in front of it, in full street, by announcing to him that it has a cancer. With far, Bree, Susan and Gabrielle see, horrified, the baldness of Lynette. They then decide to say all their secrecies, even more disturbing.

The 4 neighbors thus will make a pact, that not to more have of secrecy between them.

Anecdotes

  • the children of Lynette are called Porter, Preston, Parker and Penny and they have all, consequently, a first name starting with the letter " P".
  • Whereas the family of Bree is based on the adolescence of Marc Cherry, that of Lynette is based on its childhood.
