Luzzasco Luzzaschi
Luzzasco Luzzaschi (towards 1545 - September 10th 1607) was a Compositeur, Organiste and Italian pedagog of the late Renaissance. He was born with Ferrare and probably passed most of his life in this city.
Although it is especially known like madrigalist, he was also organist and pedagog: among its pupils we find Girolamo Frescobaldi. He studied with Cyprien de Rore to become then organist at the court of the duke Alfonso II, for whom he wrote the majority of his compositions.
Luzzaschi composed seven books the madrigaux one for five votes, including famous “the Madrigali… per cantare, and sonare, has uno, E DOI, E tre soprani” (1601). With the difference of several madrigalists of its time, Luzzaschi uses a line of soprano rich in ornaments, which anticipates the style of the first baroque. Another distinctive point of the work of Luzzaschi is the existence of partitions of music for keyboard.
Luzzaschi was director of famous “the Concerto delle gives” and composed of madrigaux for them, including its madrigaux of 1601. Its work for these singers of exception probably was at the origin of its rich person works vocal.
In addition to the madrigaux ones, Luzzaschi composed of the sacred music and published a collection of Motet S with five parts in 1598.
